The Garden and Home Workshop at Multiflora
Khali and her students were invited to participate at the Garden and Home workshop held at Multiflora City Deep on the 11th October. There were 400 attendees at the event and a fab time was had by all as they had the opportunity to watch Khali do a demo and presentation on wedding flowers and decor. She gave tips on caring for flowers, flower arranging, décor, brides and trends. Volunteers from the audience joined in to assist her in completing the overall look and feel.
All décor stock was provided by Grandiflora and The Wedding Specialist for the four themed tables – a pastel table; a forest themed table; a navy, white and crystal table and a monochrome table with a pop of colour using orchids and lilies.

Photography Course Grows in Popularity
One of the more popular courses offered at The SA School of Weddings is the Photography Course which will resume again in Feb 2015. The SA School of Weddings at The Wedding Expo 2014
The SA School of Weddings students exhibited at the annual Wedding Expo at the Coco Cola Dome. Their large display area created much excitement and attention from the thousands of visitors attending the show and the bridal couples were encouraged to participate by voting for their favourite décor display and cake. This competition highlighted the incredible talents of the students with the voting bringing in hundreds of personalised commendations by the participating couples. Congratulations to students Antoinette and Isabel, who won the cake and décor categories respectively and the two bridal couples drawn from the winning students quota will receive a custom designed cake and over R4000 of décor for their upcoming weddings.
Cake Judging at Sugar ‘n Ice
The SA School of Weddings full time wedding management students, together with lecturer Kate de Waal of Sugar ‘n Ice, showcased their final cake assignments on site at Sugar ‘n Ice in September 2014. The judges included Khali de Villiers, Corne Buys, Avril ? and Jeanre Campher of the SA School of Weddings, together with Nici Bailes of the Marriage Meander Company. All were blown away by the high standards seen at the judging and the calibre of cakes designed and executed. The brief was simply to create a 3 tiered wedding cake for a client of their choice and the cakes ranged from traditional 3 tiered to exotic 6 tiers! The colours, the attention to detail, the finishing touches were all of such a high standard that each and every cake showcased could have been used for any exclusive wedding, showing the calibre of students and their talents.
